The Promise of God's Care
"Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you."
Under our sermon series Standing on the Promises, this week we explore 1 Peter 5:7 to come across another wonderful promise from God: the promise of God's care. Does the thought of tomorrow terrify you? Are you worried sick? Although we all struggle with worry, you may be surprised to learn worry is as much a sin against God as stealing! It is saying to God that you don't trust Him, believe He is in control, or think He can meet your needs.
Living without worry is easier said than done, but the key is learning to trust God and His plan for your life. We have seen that some of God's promises are conditional, but God's love is not conditional; He cares for you even if you don't care for him. This conditional part of this promise is the rest of the statement. Going to God with our problems is the best way to approach them. We must have humility, for God resists pride. It is pride in ourselves that causes us to doubt God and allow worry and anxiety into our lives. It is through prayer to God and trust in His plan that we can find peaceful lives and peace of mind.
